How are we doing? Is there anything you would like to tell us?
i really like how Dunedin has started to focus on making it a more environmentally conscious city, i like the new centre city area and i love walking. i am not happy about the threat of local music venues like The Crown shutting down. Several music venues like Sammies and Dog with Two Tails have already closed. Dunedin is known for its buzzing nightlife and historical buildings yet still being in touch with current realities.

What other ideas should we be thinking about to include in future plans for our city?
The local music venues need to be protected from being shut down from things like noise complaints. Dunedin nightlife and the Dunedin music scene is a great attraction for many people young and old. there is a place for everyone to enjoy- at the moment, without protection our beloved venues face horrible and unfair consequences. If we don’t protect these venues, a lot of Dunedin in general will suffer. there is no attraction and culture in most of the octagon clubs so most people will just prefer to stay at home. the local bands will have no wear to play, and our creative sector will slowly diminish. even the students won’t find a great attraction in coming here to study, and the financial sector will take a hit. Dunedin’s Live Music Venues are a really important part of the Ōtepoti experience, part of OUR history and OUR culture. it is extremely important we make way to ensure these music venues are protected.
