How are we doing? Is there anything you would like to tell us?
I think you are doing OK. Obviously there are a lot of detractors and people who just like yelling insults online. The actual DCC gets on with stuff. The public shouty stuff tends to be about the mayor and particular councillors. But this is a democracy, and all the representatives are there representing people. I do think more info, or possibly more easily findable info on what the DCC is doing and WHY might help with public image. Altho most people and possibly esp. the complainers, don't make much effort to read stuff on your website! I do think it might be sensible to change the name of the Zero Carbon campaign to Zero excess carbon dioxide emissions!

What other ideas should we be thinking about to include in future plans for our city?
Keep working on transport options. The overcrowding on the Palmerston bus suggests cheap fares DO encourage bus use! Get control of the buses, and run a good service. Bike lanes, stores, etc. Campaign to get SH1 running further away from the city centre and use Cumberland St as a 2 way for within city traffic. Look at ways to provide either safe parking or park and ride for shift workers in the city. The rest of the parking is FINE, altho electronic 'find-a-park' would help. Keep up the green stuff and the Zero excess carbon dioxide emissions project. Support the Govt's 3 waters plan. Stick with STV voting. Carefully consider zoning, don't allow housing in noisy areas and then let people complain about the music venues or industry. At the moment, it is he tangata -the people - we need to think of and their welfare in difficult times, not grandiose projects!
