How are we doing? Is there anything you would like to tell us?
Music and arts are pillars of any community, and have the amazing power to bring people together. Music venues in Ōtepoti Dunedin provide a safe place to gather and enjoy live art together, strengthening community bonds. The recent loss of Dog with Two Tails was a huge blow to the local arts and music community, leaving many bands and groups scrambling. Dunedin venues need protection against noise complaints to stay open and continue providing safe places for the community to gather. The loss of Third Spaces (spaces away from work and home) is detrimental to the human psyche. As a community we need places like live music venues and arts spaces for our collective mental wellbeing.
What other ideas should we be thinking about to include in future plans for our city?
More walkable streets, bring back the tram.
More funding for music and arts venues/spaces.
