Submission
How are we doing? Is there anything you would like to tell us?
This submission is made by Tūhura Otago Museum. We are seeking an increase in our Levy funding in line with the rate of inflation. This will allow us to continue to pay our staff the living wage and continue to operate our existing programmes and events. We are also submitting an independent Economic and Social Impact study of our Museum's impact on the economy of the region. The study highlights that the Museum is attracting more than $25 million each year in economic activity and that for every dollar of public investment we bring almost $6 back into the economy
What other ideas should we be thinking about to include in future plans for our city?
Dunedin's existing museums and galleries are a much overlooked and under appreciated set of assets for the city. We collectively generate tens of millions of dollars into the regional economy and play a hugely important role in supporting the education of our community.
