How are we doing? Is there anything you would like to tell us?
We, from the New Zealand Sea Lion Trust, strongly urge the DCC to fund the Museum Levy at an increase of 7% in line with inflation (not the 2% increase currently proposed) to provide the Otago Museum with the opportunity to continue offering the support, services and resources to the community as it currently does. The Otago Museum is an amazing resource for the Dunedin community and the support and opportunities they provide to volunteer run charities such as the New Zealand Sea Lion Trust, is hugely beneficial to our work. Currently, the Museum assists with many events we run throughout the year (for example, community education events, public talks, fundraiser quiz nights, our AGM, etc.) allowing us to use different spaces within the museum for public events free of charge. They also provide staff to support the organisation and set up of these events, without which some of our events would not run at all. Please increase the Museum Levy in line with inflation of 7%, as if they do not receive the funding required there will be flow on effects to other parts of the community. For example, if they had to start charging us or our attendees for using the space at the Museum for events, it will limit the types and frequency of talks and events we could hold.

What other ideas should we be thinking about to include in future plans for our city?
