How are we doing? Is there anything you would like to tell us?
I think there have been many good changes over the last few years. - Improved walkability in the city. - Increased motorcycle & scooter parking (encouraging alternative methods of transport). - Great progress on the Port to Port cycle way. Real asset to the city in transport and tourism. - New buildings going up in the city. For many many years, there was almost no development in the city. Now there are new high rise apartment buildings, town house developments, big new uni hall of residence, and others. I think its worth having a high density inner-city; it will bring more vibrancy to the dead parts of town. - Big focus on improving water infrastructure - I hear the improvements will hopefully last a hundred years. I also like the support the city is showing for the hospital. I think it is a very unifying issue in the city. The impression I get is that only people paid to say otherwise don't support having the hospital built as planned. Most of us are going to have very significant moments of our lives there. Its worth pursuing this to the fullest extent we can. If I was the mayor, I'd be tempted to borrow the money as a city as a last resort to get it built.

What other ideas should we be thinking about to include in future plans for our city?
Continuing on the topic of cycling, transport, and tourism: I support the Tunnels Trail project to develop a Shared Path/Cycleway between Mosgiel and Caversham. The Tunnels trail project should be given immediate and high priority, without delay, with a focus of delivering operational sections as soon as possible. The tunnels trail is Dunedin's internal transport corridor between the coast and the Plain, as well as our link to the wider Otago cycleway network.
