How are we doing? Is there anything you would like to tell us?
There is excellent work going on in the city centre, making it attractive, walkable and a pleasure to be in. Also good work on playgrounds, cycle paths and the coming green waste pickup.

What other ideas should we be thinking about to include in future plans for our city?
Submission to the Dunedin City Council Annual Plan 2023. Dance space. Dancing has well recognized health and social benefits for people of all ages in our community. Among these are balance, muscular strength, fitness, coordination, flexibility, cognitive function and confidence. It also encourages cultural diversity as dancers learn the music and some language and history of the country of origin of their dance. We have been dancing Argentine Tango in Dunedin since 2004. It is difficult to find spaces with a good hard floor that are suitable for practices and social dancing. The costs of many halls and room are high and prohibitive for small groups to afford, even for a few hours a week. A free or low cost, bookable dance space would be welcomed by dance groups, such as ours. We also support the idea of an outdoor dance space similar to the Dance-O-Mat made famous by Gap Filler in Christchurch after the earthquakes. We would welcome all ideas from the Dunedin City Council to provide opportunities for dance in Dunedin both indoors and outside. Sincerely Mike and Ali Jameson
