I strongly support the DCC raising its financial contribution to the important work Tūhura Otago Museum does this year and in the future. At the very least, an increase equivalent to inflation should be instituted.
Tūhura supports and adds to the appeal of tourism in Dunedin and Otago. It maintains a significant proportion of our community’s publicly accessible taoka, artistic and historic treasures, and natural history collections. It offers important educational opportunities for Dunedin children. It is a key factor in local research in all the areas in which it holds collections, some of which has national and international effects and implications.
Please grant Tūhura Otago Museum a 7% funding increase in line with inflation, so that it can keep doing all the good things it does for Dunedin.
What other ideas should we be thinking about to include in future plans for our city?
