How are we doing? Is there anything you would like to tell us?
There is a serious problem in Dunedin at present with the future of live music. As more inner-city apartments are built, people move in and then start to complain about loud music at night. This is fundamentally wrong that one person can shut down a venue with potentially hundreds of happy music lovers, just because they expect the inner city to be as quiet as the suburbs. It is even worse that in many cases the venue has been there for many years hosting live music (eg The Crown Hotel). There needs to be a requirement for developers to highly acoustically insulate any inner city apartments, but more importantly there needs to clear rules that inner city livers can not complain about noise. If they don't like noise, they shouldn't live in the city. This situation is currently damaging Dunedin's music scene, and the creative community. Venues are shutting down (eg Dog with Two Tails), and people don't want to open new ones as they are scared of being closed down. The Council needs to support Dunedin's creative community and live music, or the scene will wither and die.

What other ideas should we be thinking about to include in future plans for our city?
See above.
