How are we doing? Is there anything you would like to tell us?
The work on bringing the sewer and stormwater pipe network up to standard is excellent and necessary. The disruption to streets, although annoying, is unavoidable and well managed. The changes to George St are already starting to show how they will bring vibrancy to the central city once completed. Well done.

What other ideas should we be thinking about to include in future plans for our city?
The Otago Museum is an important part of the cultural life of Dunedin, highlighting the special features of the city and region and what makes it attractive - the reason many residents move here - as we did a couple of years ago. It plays a critical role in the education of all age groups but especially for children. The Council funding has not kept up with inflation. The museum was significantly affected by Covid in recent years and is now also impacted by high inflation. The DCC contribution needs to be much higher in 2023 than the proposed 2% - to allow the museum to recover from the lean years in 2020-22 and also to cope with the much higher 2022 and 2023 levels of inflation. The Council has many cultural priorities but the museum should be a high priority in its foundational role supporting the cultural life of the city.
