How are we doing? Is there anything you would like to tell us?
The fact that dog with two tails just shut down is quite frankly terrible, the council needs to do WAY more to be protecting these venues from people deciding they want to move in near a live music venue in the middle of the city and then complain about noise. The music scene you so love to use and rave about “the Dunedin sound” to attract music lovers and young students to this city, is dying off and moving to other parts of Aotearoa because of the lack of venues. Touring bands don’t come here any more. There are only 3-4 venues left for up and coming bands and 1 of them has high venue hire fees which a lot of bands see as unaffordable.

What other ideas should we be thinking about to include in future plans for our city?
Save the live music venues. Make these rich property developers soundproof their buildings, they can afford it, venue owners and musicians cannot. Why should some rich asshole be able to put up an apartment next to a venue that’s been there for decades and then be able to complain that the venue is too loud. Sort this shit out or in 2-3 years there will be no music scene here, the city will lose a lot of vibrance, culture and will no longer be able to claim the “Dunedin sound”
