How are we doing? Is there anything you would like to tell us?
I love the George St upgrade - and the fight for the hospital to remain at what was promised. My concern now is all the funding that has been dropped for education programmes at places like the Museums, and our two local Marae. At a time when education is so important I think that prioritising some of our city money towards continuing the fabulous programmes that we had in place is a priority. Also, the insignificant funding for the museum is a worry (2%), it is a world class museum, if funding is not increased at least at the level of inflation it is not going to be able to maintain its high standard. I believe these things should still be at the top of the priority list for our city, we have a good name as a cultural city - let's maintain and work on this angle to get more visitors to our incredible wee city.
What other ideas should we be thinking about to include in future plans for our city?
Increased funding to the Otago Museum
Funding returned to EOTC providers such as Otago Museum, Toitu, Otakau and Puketeraki Marae - make fun, real, relevant learning more accessible for all children.
Continue with the street upgrades - they are looking really good
