How are we doing? Is there anything you would like to tell us?
I am concerned about the poor soundproofing regulations for new builds in the city area which threaten the viability of live music venues. There are more musicians here per capita here than anywhere else in the country. Dunedin's live music scene is the main reason some people move here. Other cities such as Tauranga, and even Auckland, do not have the exciting original live music culture which Dunedin has. If we lose it, the creative soul of the city will die. A comparable city is Melbourne which puts the onus on soundproofing on neighbouring buildings. They are also planning to put caveats on one of the most culturally important venues, which many in Dunedin believe The Crown Hotel to be.

What other ideas should we be thinking about to include in future plans for our city?
Safe cycleways. They don't have to go through the city, they can go around, but they must be safe in order for more people to use them. A tram up High Street to Mornington would be good. Some good tourist attractions there, like Pattis and Cream.
