How are we doing? Is there anything you would like to tell us?
I am urging you to reconsider the level of funding that Tūhura Otago Museum receives. Covid-19 and slower than expected return of tourists means that the Museum is not able to generate as much income as previously and needs your support to continue providing the amazing things it usually does. As it is, the Museum has received less than inflation increases to its Levy funding. This is very short-sighted and the current plan of just 2% is woefully short of the 7% actually needed; in real terms this will result in a cut of a quarter of million dollars in the museum's budget for next year. A quarter of a million!!! This means · Less ability to support students’ free access to the Museum’s education programmes for schools. · Compromised ability to maintain our community’s taoka, historic treasures, and scientific collection. · Less local scientific research for Otago. · Further increases to our prices. · Reduced ability to drive tourism for the region. DCC, please fund the Museum with a 7% increase in line with inflation, so that they can keep doing all the good things they do for our city.

What other ideas should we be thinking about to include in future plans for our city?
