How are we doing? Is there anything you would like to tell us?
As a relative newcomer to the City of Dunedin, I have always been impressed by the extraordinary riches of the collections held by the Otago Museum and other cultural institutions in this city and indeed by the support provided by DCC. Increasingly however, as annual Council funding slips further behind inflation/CPI, the risk to these collections will increase and the services offered by the Museum will diminish.
What other ideas should we be thinking about to include in future plans for our city?
It is understood that the Otago Museum has been offered a 2% increase in funds, rather than meeting inflation at 7% or indeed, a likely rates increase of 6.5% this year. Please ensure that the Museum is funded in line with inflation to ensure the incredible cultural riches continue to contribute to such a great quality of life this city has to offer.
