the future of us

Welcome to the Dunedin City Council’s draft 10 year plan for 2021-31.

The 10 year plan helps shape our city for the future. The plan outlines the services and activities the DCC aims to provide, the things we want to do and the level of service the community can expect.

The plan also includes how much we expect things to cost, how we will pay for them and what it all means for rates and debt.

To do what we’re planning, we have proposed a rates rise of 9.8% in the first year of the plan and an average of 5.7% over the following nine years. We would also need to take on much more debt.

We’ve got some ideas about what the city’s priorities should be, based on what you’ve told us before and the challenges we’re facing. However, it’s really important that you tell us what you think about the proposed spending and projects for the next decade.

We specifically want your views on a few key topics. These relate to kerbside rubbish and recycling collection, new transport projects, community housing, a performing arts venue and public toilets.
